Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.1.1.LI.1 - Investigate and discuss a variety of biomedical science careers that relate to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least six different biomedical science careers and state one key duty for each career.
- Categorise biomedical science careers according to whether they primarily relate to disease prevention, diagnosis, or treatment.
- Explain how the work of biomedical scientists connects to patient care and public health outcomes using examples from videos, pictures, or a workplace visit.
- Work collaboratively in mixed-gender and mixed-ability groups to role-play the daily activities of a selected biomedical science professional.
- Reflect on their own interests and skills and describe which biomedical science career path appeals to them and why.

Experiential Learning: Learners visit the workplace of selected biomedical scientists or watch videos of biomedical scientists at work or observe pictures of biomedical science professionals. Learners make notes of their observations and discuss the various careers in biomedical science. Activity-Based Learning: Work in groups to role-play the various professionals and how they work daily in relation to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Teaching and Learning Resources: - Videos - Documentaries and pictures of the various biomedical scientist professionals - Documentaries and pictures of the biomedical scientists in relation to forensic - Documentaries and pictures of the biomedical scientists in medical device production and regulation Assessment (2.1.1.AS.1).
