Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.4.2.LI.1 - Explain safety practices with regards to building and operating UAVs.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- State at least five safety practices to observe when building a UAV, such as battery handling, propeller checks, and proper soldering techniques.
- State at least five safety practices to observe when operating a UAV, including pre-flight checks, weather evaluation, and maintaining visual line of sight.
- Explain the purpose behind each stated safety practice, connecting the practice to the specific risk it prevents.
- Classify given safety practices as either building-related or operation-related using a sorting activity.
- Work collaboratively in mixed groups to produce a mind map linking safety practices to the risks they address, using the GCAA RPAS regulations as a reference.
