Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.3.2.LI.1 - Identify the major aviation agency in Ghana and its key operations.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. State the full name and acronym of the major aviation agency in Ghana (GCAA).
  2. Identify the GCAA as the sole regulatory authority for civil aviation in Ghana.
  3. List at least four key operations of the GCAA, such as licensing, airworthiness, air traffic services, and accident investigation.
  4. Explain the relationship between the GCAA and international bodies like ICAO and IATA.
  5. Recognise the role of the GCAA in ensuring safety, security, and compliance with international standards at Ghana’s airports, including Kotoka International Airport.
