Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.1.2.LI.2 - Describe the use and importance of tissue culture in arable crop (cereals, legumes, and tuber crops) enterprises.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define tissue culture in their own words and list the basic steps involved in the process.
  2. Explain at least four uses of tissue culture in the production of cereals, legumes, and tuber crops.
  3. Describe the importance of tissue culture to arable crop farmers, including disease elimination, rapid multiplication, and uniform planting material.
  4. Distinguish between tissue culture and traditional methods of crop propagation (such as using seeds or cuttings).
  5. Present findings on the benefits of tissue culture in mixed-gender groups using cardboard posters.
