Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.3.1.LI.1 - Explain medical intervention in relation to diagnosis, therapy and prevention.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define medical intervention and state its three main purposes: diagnosis, therapy, and prevention.
  2. Explain how a diagnostic intervention differs from a therapeutic intervention and a preventive intervention, using local and everyday examples.
  3. Categorise given examples of medical interventions under diagnosis, therapy, or prevention.
  4. Justify why accurate diagnosis is the necessary first step before therapy can begin, using a simple case scenario.
  5. Describe at least one diagnostic device or procedure they have seen or heard about in a Ghanaian hospital or clinic.
