Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.1.1.LI.2 - Identify problems in the society that can be solved by applying biomedical science.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least five health-related problems in their local community that biomedical science can address.
  2. Explain, for each identified problem, how biomedical science can be applied to solve or reduce it.
  3. Categorise societal problems into those that are biomedical in nature and those that are not.
  4. Research and present findings on a selected societal problem and its biomedical solution using at least two information sources.
  5. Justify why certain problems require biomedical science intervention and not other approaches.
