Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.3.1.LI.2 - Describe the learning pathways that lead to careers in aviation.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify the different levels of education and training required for at least five aviation careers, from entry-level certificates to university degrees.
  2. Sequence the typical steps in a learning pathway for one aviation career (for example, pilot, aircraft maintenance engineer, air traffic controller) from secondary school to employment.
  3. Compare two different learning pathways (for example, cadet pilot training versus university degree plus flight school) and explain the advantages of each.
  4. Justify the importance of continuous professional development and type ratings in the aviation industry using specific career examples.
  5. Create a simple career pathway map showing how a learner in SHS1 today could progress to a chosen aviation career within Ghana.
