Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.3.5.LI.2 - Put into use the concepts, and principles of coaching and officiating in the performance of throw events.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Demonstrate the correct coaching cues for at least one throw event (shot put, discus, javelin, or hammer) while instructing a peer during a role-play session.
  2. Apply officiating rules, including legal throws, fouls, and measurement procedures, when managing a practice throw event for their group.
  3. Use officiating equipment (whistle, tape measure, markers) correctly to record and verify throw distances during a simulated competition.
  4. Provide respectful, constructive feedback to peers on their coaching and officiating performance, focusing on both strengths and areas for improvement.
  5. Evaluate a coached throw performance using a simple checklist and identify one specific correction that improved the performer’s technique.
