From Verse to Performance

Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.4.3.LI.2 - Perform the poems created through diverse modes

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least four different modes of performing a poem (solo recitation, choral speaking, dramatic enactment, spoken word with musical backing, or digital/recorded performance).
  2. Develop a written performance plan that states the mode chosen, the poem’s central theme, the roles of each group member, and the rehearsal schedule.
  3. Rehearse a group performance of a self-created poem, applying voice modulation, facial expression, gesture, and movement to communicate the poem’s meaning.
  4. Perform a self-created poem before the class using the chosen mode, collaborating effectively with group members throughout the process.
  5. Reflect critically on their own performance and that of others, offering constructive feedback that identifies strengths and areas for improvement.

This lesson builds directly on the poems learners created in Week 18 under indicator 3.4.3.LI.1. Learners now move from the page to the stage, transforming those written poems into live performances. The lesson focuses on the practical skills of planning, rehearsing, and presenting, while the formal evaluation of performances is scheduled for a later slot.
