Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.4.2.LI.4 - Critique the works of different authors using the skills gained.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the strengths and weaknesses of a poem using the poetic elements and language skills acquired in previous lessons.
- Apply the PEE (Point, Evidence, Explanation) strategy to write a structured critical response to a poem.
- Compare how two authors treat a similar theme in their respective poems, using evidence from both texts.
- Use a self-assessment guide to evaluate their own critique at Depth of Knowledge Level 3, strategic reasoning, and revise their work accordingly.
- Present a reasoned oral critique of a poem, defending their interpretation with textual evidence during a group discussion.
