Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.4.1.LI.1 - Review the elements of poetry
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Recall and define at least eight elements of poetry from memory, including theme, tone, mood, imagery, diction, rhyme, rhythm and figurative language.
- Identify elements of poetry in a given poem and cite specific lines or phrases as evidence for each element found.
- Explain in their own words how a poet uses particular elements to create meaning or effect in a poem.
- Work collaboratively in mixed-ability groups to brainstorm, organise and present the elements of poetry using ethically academic language.
