Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.3.3.LI.2 - Convert drama pieces into stories
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the structural elements of a drama piece (acts, scenes, dialogue, stage directions) and explain how they translate into story components (chapters, paragraphs, narration, description).
- Convert a short scripted drama scene into a narrative story, preserving the plot, characters and theme while changing the form.
- Use the process writing approach (planning, drafting, revising, editing, publishing) to complete the conversion of a drama piece into a story.
- Compare and contrast a drama script and a story version of the same event, noting what is gained and lost in each form.
- Work collaboratively in groups to convert a drama piece into a story, giving and receiving constructive feedback on each other’s drafts.
