Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.3.2.LI.4 - Appreciate varied drama texts for their empathetic effects

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Define empathy and explain how drama texts create empathetic responses in an audience or reader.
  • Identify specific moments in a drama text that evoke empathy for a character, citing evidence from dialogue, stage directions, or action.
  • Analyse how dramatic tools (dialogue, soliloquy, aside, characterisation, conflict, and staging) work together to produce empathy in a chosen scene.
  • Appreciate varied drama texts for their empathetic effects by responding critically for presentation and discussion with peers.
  • Assess their own and others’ appreciations of empathetic effects using a provided guide, offering constructive feedback.
