Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.3.1.LI.1 - Discuss the connection between dramatic forms and themes
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define the major dramatic forms (tragedy, comedy, tragicomedy, melodrama, farce, and satire) and state one key feature of each.
- Explain how the choice of a dramatic form shapes the themes a playwright can explore.
- Identify themes in a short play extract and match them to the dramatic form being used.
- Present a short role play that demonstrates how a chosen dramatic form conveys a specific theme.
- Justify, in a group discussion, why a particular dramatic form is suitable for expressing a given theme, using evidence from the text.

Task Based Learning Review knowledge on forms and elements of drama and style. Learners work in groups on given tasks and present their findings for revision. Learners from other groups add information. Experiential Learning - Watch plays and identify a) Forms of drama b) Themes in the plays. - This activity requires learners to think critically to apply knowledge on forms of drama and themes. - In Task Groups, discuss and creatively present them in Role Play e.g. "I am Comedy "and will always give you fun.
