Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.3.1.LI.3 - Examine how the forms are developed in varied texts

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Explain at least two specific ways a drama text develops its form (e.g., how a tragedy builds tragic elements through plot or character).
  2. Apply the 5 Whys strategy to trace how a form (comedy, tragedy, tragicomedy, farce, melodrama) emerges in a given text or short film.
  3. Compare how two different texts develop their dramatic forms, identifying at least one similarity and one difference in technique.
  4. Evaluate, using the diamond nine strategy, which textual elements most strongly signal a particular dramatic form in a selected skit or drama excerpt.
