Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.3.1.LI.2 - Distinguish between the forms of drama

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. State the defining features that separate at least four major forms of drama (tragedy, comedy, melodrama, and tragicomedy) after watching a short film excerpt.
  2. Sort given drama excerpts into their correct forms, giving at least one reason for each classification.
  3. Justify their classification of a drama form using evidence from the text or film, avoiding personal bias and stereotypes.
  4. Use the diamond nine strategy to rank and evaluate the importance of features that distinguish one drama form from another.
  5. Work collaboratively in mixed groups to present a short comparison of two drama forms, using ethically acceptable language.
