Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.2.3.LI.2 - Produce narrative pieces applying different styles

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify at least three distinct narrative styles (first-person, epistolary, and oral-traditional) from passages of selected African and non-African prose texts.
Explain how an author’s choice of style affects the reader’s experience of a story, using specific examples from texts studied.
Adapt a short passage from one narrative style into another, preserving the plot while changing the voice and tone.
Produce an original narrative piece of 250 to 350 words applying one chosen style consistently, with a clear setting, character and conflict.
Work collaboratively in groups to develop a synopsis that indicates which narrative style will guide their planned story and justify that choice.
