Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.4.3.LI.1 - Perform parts of selected poems

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify and explain the key performance elements (intonation, rhythm, gesture, facial expression) required to perform a poem effectively.
  2. Memorise and recite a selected part of a poem with appropriate intonation and rhythm.
  3. Transform a section of a poem into a short role play, acting out the characters and events with expressive body language.
  4. Work collaboratively in groups to rehearse and present a poetic performance to the class.
  5. Give and receive constructive feedback on performances, using specific language about voice and movement.

Project-Based Learning:

- Teachers guide learners to turn poems into role plays. In groups, learners memorise and recite parts of poems with the appropriate intonation and rhythm and act out portions of poems.

- Learners apply knowledge practically in performance as they develop their gifts and talents.
