Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.3.3.LI.4 - Write and perform a sketch on relevant themes and values such as honesty, hard work, patriotism
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the key features of a drama sketch, including plot, character, dialogue, setting and theme, using the process writing technique.
- Brainstorm and select a relevant theme (honesty, hard work, or patriotism) for a group sketch and draft a short script using the stages of process writing.
- Peer edit drafts of sketches, giving and receiving constructive feedback to improve dialogue, character development and clarity of theme.
- Assign roles, rehearse, and perform a group sketch in class, using simple costumes and stage settings to enhance the performance.
- Reflect on the creative process and evaluate how the sketch communicates its central value to an audience.
