Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.3.3.LI.1 - Perform monologues of chosen scenes from a variety of plays.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define a monologue and identify the key features of an effective dramatic monologue.
  2. Select an interesting monologue from a provided script or play excerpt and explain their choice.
  3. Practise a chosen monologue in groups, applying voice control, facial expression, and simple gestures.
  4. Perform a monologue individually in class with confidence, clarity, and appropriate emotion.
  5. Provide respectful, constructive feedback on peers’ performances using simple criteria.

Project-Based Learning:

- Guide learners with questions to select interesting monologues, practise in groups and individually perform in class to ensure all category of learners are included in the lesson. This will develop inclusivity.

- Doing it in groups with peers before performing in class will help learners gain confidence to develop their gifts and talents to play meaningful roles in the development of the creative arts industry.
