Indicator: 2.2.2.LI.2 - Discuss party systems.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define a political party and distinguish it from a pressure group.
  2. Identify and describe the main types of party systems: one-party, two-party, and multi-party systems.
  3. Explain the features and advantages of the multi-party system as practised in Ghana.
  4. Assess the strengths and weaknesses of each party system in relation to democratic consolidation.
  5. Justify, with reasoned arguments, why Ghana operates a multi-party system under the 1992 Constitution.
