Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.2.1.LI.4 - Explain the meaning, types, and structure of the legislature.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define the legislature and explain its role as one of the three organs of government.
- Identify and describe at least three types of legislatures, giving examples of countries or systems that use each type.
- Describe the structure of Ghana’s Parliament, including its leadership positions and membership composition.
- Explain the functions of the Parliament of Ghana, using specific provisions from the 1992 Constitution where relevant.
- Discuss reasons for the underrepresentation of women in Ghana’s legislature and propose ways to improve gender balance in Parliament.
