Safety, Quality and the Environment

Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.3.3.LI.2 - Examine the regulatory agency penalties, and criteria for corrective actions.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least five regulatory agencies that govern manufacturing operations in Ghana and state their general areas of oversight.
  2. Explain the types of penalties (fines, suspension, closure, prosecution) that regulatory agencies can impose on manufacturing facilities for non-compliance.
  3. Describe the criteria used to determine corrective actions when a manufacturing process is found to be non-compliant.
  4. Distinguish between immediate corrective action and preventative corrective action, giving one example of each from a manufacturing setting.
  5. Justify, using a simple case scenario, why a particular penalty or corrective action is appropriate for a given violation.
