Web Technologies and Databases
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.2.3.LI.3 - Create a relational database model of a database.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define a relational database and explain the key components: tables, records, fields, primary keys, and foreign keys.
- Identify relationships (one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-many) between tables in a given scenario.
- Design a relational database model from a real-world scenario by identifying entities, attributes, and relationships.
- Draw an entity-relationship (ER) diagram using standard symbols to represent tables and their connections.
- Justify design decisions in a relational database model, explaining how primary and foreign keys link tables and maintain data integrity.
