Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.1.3.LI.2 - Explore how data travels on the Internet, how the IP addressing system functions and discuss surfing the Web, creating and use of e-mail and mailing lists.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Describe, in sequence, how data is broken into packets and travels from one device to another across the Internet.
- Explain the function of an IP address and distinguish between IPv4 and IPv6 formats.
- Demonstrate the steps for browsing the Web effectively, including using a URL and a search engine.
- Create a personal e-mail account and compose, send, and reply to a message.
- Discuss the purpose of mailing lists and demonstrate how to subscribe and participate in one.
