Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.1.2.LI.2 - Distinguish between the molecular arrangement of the various states.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Describe the molecular arrangement in solids, liquids, gases, and plasma in terms of the spacing between particles, the strength of forces between particles, and the movement of particles.
Draw simple diagrams showing the arrangement of particles in each of the four states of matter, labelling the key features correctly.
Compare any two states of matter by stating at least two differences in their molecular arrangement.
Predict the state of a substance at a given temperature based on the arrangement and energy of its particles.
Collaborate respectfully in mixed-ability groups to present findings on the molecular structure of the four states of matter.
