Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.1.3.LI.4 - Discuss and practice preventive measures relating to sports injuries.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least five common preventive measures for sports injuries and explain how each one works.
  2. Demonstrate a proper warm-up and cool-down routine for a sport of their choice.
  3. Describe the role of proper technique, appropriate equipment, and safe playing conditions in preventing sports injuries.
  4. Differentiate between intrinsic and extrinsic risk factors for sports injuries.
  5. Apply preventive measures by designing a pre-activity safety checklist for a school sporting event.

This lesson builds directly on the concept of sports injuries and how they manifest, which learners covered in Week 17 (Indicator 3.1.3.LI.3). The focus now shifts from understanding what injuries are to actively preventing them.
