Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.1.4.LI.3 - Identify the basic skills in performing the African Cloth Parachuting or sail.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Describe the origins of the African cloth parachute (African sail) and its role in traditional childhood play in Ghana.
- Identify and name at least five basic skills required to perform the African cloth parachute effectively.
- Demonstrate the correct procedure for preparing and tying the cloth around the waist and holding the top corners above the head.
- Explain the significance of the African cloth parachute to children’s health, creativity, and social development.
- Perform the African cloth parachute with proper technique while following given rhythms or commands.

Material Preparation: Learners select and prepare the appropriate cloth, demonstrating how to securely tie it around the waist and hold the top corners above the head for optimal sail effect. Assessment (2.1.4.AS.3): Level 2: Describe how the African cloth parachute or African sail is played. Level 3: Demonstrate how the African Cloth Parachute or African Sail is played.
