Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.2.1.LI.3 - Say words of congratulation, felicitation or well-wishing to a person in happy moment
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Recall at least five Arabic phrases of congratulation, felicitation and well-wishing, and state their English meanings accurately (Level 1: Recall).
- Match each congratulatory expression to the appropriate happy occasion (e.g., wedding, graduation, new baby, religious festival, business success) (Level 2: Conceptual understanding).
- Role-play a short dialogue in which one person congratulates another who has achieved success, using at least three appropriate expressions with correct pronunciation and intonation (Level 2: Skills).
- Distinguish between words of congratulation for happy moments (this lesson) and words of condolence or consolation for sad moments (from the previous lesson), explaining the difference in usage (Level 2: Conceptual understanding).
- Respond appropriately to congratulations received, using expressions of thanks and humility such as شكراً جزيلاً (shukran jazeelan) and بارك الله فيك (baarak Allahu feek).
