Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.3.1.LI.1 - Discuss dishonesty as central to the causes and effects of corruption.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define honesty, bribery, and corruption in their own words with accurate examples.
- Identify at least four causes of bribery and corruption in Ghanaian society, such as get-rich-quick attitudes and poor conditions of service.
- Explain how dishonest acts like bribery lead to corruption, and trace at least two effects of corruption on national development.
- Discuss, in small groups, how corrupt practices contradict the Ghanaian value of honesty using examples from their own communities.
- Justify with reasons why honesty is a necessary foundation for building the nation.

General Learning Approach: In the context of schools with large sizes, the RMEC team should utilize case studies, video watching (movie scenes), drama/role play that will offer opportunities for discussions afterwards. Where appropriate the following pedagogies may also be implemented: Digital Learning: Use internet sources to access stories and videos showing effects of corruption. Collaborative Learning: In small groups, discuss how the practice of corruption contradicts the Ghanaian value of honesty.
