Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.4.2.LI.1 - Discuss the concept of taxation and the sources of taxes in Ghana

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Explain the meaning of taxation and distinguish between direct and indirect taxes with local examples.
Identify at least six different sources of taxes in Ghana, classifying each as either a direct or indirect tax.
Describe the purposes of taxation in national development, linking each purpose to a specific public good or service in Ghana.
Discuss the rights and obligations of taxpayers in Ghana, including the importance of the Tax Identification Number (TIN).
Work collaboratively in groups to research and present findings on sources of taxes using digital tools.
