Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.3.4.LI.2 - Discuss the causes of road accidents, their socio-economic implications and how to minimise road accidents in Ghana

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. identify and categorise at least five major causes of road accidents in Ghana, including human, vehicular and environmental factors
  2. explain the socio-economic implications of road accidents on individuals, families and the nation
  3. propose appropriate interventions for minimising road accidents in Ghana, such as improved driver behaviour, vehicle maintenance and enforcement of traffic laws
  4. analyse a given scenario involving a road accident, identify its likely causes and recommend preventive measures
  5. demonstrate responsible attitudes as road users by committing to at least two personal actions that can reduce road accidents
