Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.2.1.LI.3 - Evaluate disorders of the human excretory organ system.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least four common disorders of the human excretory system (kidney stones, urinary tract infections, kidney failure, and nephritis) and describe their main causes and symptoms.
  2. Explain, using a simple risk-factor chart, how lifestyle choices such as diet, water intake, and hygiene contribute to the development of excretory system disorders.
  3. Evaluate the effects of these disorders on the normal functioning of the kidney and other excretory organs, comparing the severity of different disorders.
  4. Propose at least two preventive measures for each disorder discussed, justifying their recommendations with scientific reasoning.
  5. Communicate their findings from a group mini-investigation on one excretory disorder, presenting causes, symptoms, treatment options, and prevention strategies to the class.
