Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.2.2.2.4 - Design and produce own musical genre that reflect the history and cultures, physical and social environment

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Research and select at least one indigenous Ghanaian musical genre from outside their own community that expresses a personal experience, interest, mood, or social concept such as the SSNIT Pension Scheme.
Identify the historical and cultural origins, instruments, and performance features of their chosen musical genre.
Collaborate as a group to produce a short musical piece in the chosen genre that reflects Ghanaian history, culture, or social environment.
Develop a simple rehearsal plan that allocates time to singing, drumming, dancing, costume, and venue considerations.
Present their created musical piece to the class and explain how it reflects the history and culture of its place of origin.
