Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.2.2.2.4 - Design and produce own musical genre that reflect the history and cultures, physical and social environment
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Research and select at least one indigenous Ghanaian musical genre from outside their own community that expresses a personal experience, interest, mood, or social concept such as the SSNIT Pension Scheme.
- Identify the historical and cultural origins, instruments, and performance features of their chosen musical genre.
- Collaborate as a group to produce a short musical piece in the chosen genre that reflects Ghanaian history, culture, or social environment.
- Develop a simple rehearsal plan that allocates time to singing, drumming, dancing, costume, and venue considerations.
- Present their created musical piece to the class and explain how it reflects the history and culture of its place of origin.
