Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.1.1.1.1 - Demonstrate understanding of design as a concept by using the elements and principles of design as a medium for creative expression of design in nature and the manmade environment.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define design as a concept and distinguish between designs found in nature and those made by humans.
- Identify and describe at least three examples of colour and texture in natural designs and three in manmade designs from their local environment.
- Explain how features of natural designs, such as bird colours or wall textures, influence manmade designs in their community.
- Create a simple pattern or design that uses colour and texture to express an idea, inspired by either nature or the manmade environment.
- Present and discuss their created design with peers, using accurate design vocabulary to describe the elements they applied.
