Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.2.1.1.2 - Demonstrate how to merge, split, add formula, borders and shades

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Explain the difference between merging and splitting cells in a Microsoft Word table and state when each is appropriate.
  2. Merge two or more cells in a table and split a cell into multiple rows or columns using the Layout tab.
  3. Insert a formula into a table cell to perform basic calculations such as addition and average.
  4. Apply borders and shading to table cells using the Borders and Shading dialogue box.
  5. Use the dialogue box launcher to access advanced border and line spacing options and apply them to a table.
