Indicator: B8.1.2.1.2 - Describe how portable computing devices affect our everyday lives

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least five portable computing devices they use or see in their daily lives.
  2. Describe at least three positive effects of portable computing devices on their daily routines.
  3. Describe at least two challenges or negative effects associated with the use of portable computing devices.
  4. Explain in a short oral presentation how one portable computing device has changed a specific daily activity in their community.
  5. Demonstrate responsible use of a portable computing device by suggesting at least two safety practices when using such devices.

The official curriculum document has a fault in this entry, so the curriculum text above is transcribed exactly as printed:

  • sub strand name - printed 'INTHE' with no space. The JHS document never prints the spaced form, but NaCCA's own primary Computing curriculum names the same sub-strand 'TECHNOLOGY IN THE COMMUNITY' (b4/b5/b6-computing.csv). sub_strand_name becomes the lesson topic a teacher sees, so the missing space is closed.
