Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.1.1.1.4 - Describe storage devices: Flash Memory Storage Systems, Embedded Flash Memory Cards and Readers, USB Flash Drives, Solid State Drives and Hybrid hard drives

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify and name at least five types of storage devices, including USB flash drives, memory cards, solid state drives (SSDs) and hybrid hard drives.
Describe the key features and characteristics of flash memory storage systems, embedded flash memory, flash memory cards and readers.
Explain how a memory card reader works when transferring photos or files from a memory card to a computer.
Compare and contrast solid state drives (SSDs) with hybrid hard drives, stating at least one advantage and one disadvantage of each.
Recommend an appropriate storage device for a given situation, such as backing up school work or storing family photos.
