Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.3.4.1.1
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain the purpose of a text by identifying whether it informs, raises awareness, or challenges an idea.
- Pull key information from different segments of a text and connect them to determine the author’s overall purpose.
- State the reason a text was written and give evidence from at least two different parts of the text to support their answer.
- Use Arabic phrases such as لِلتَّعْرِيفِ (to inform), لِلتَّوْعِيَةِ (to raise awareness), and لِتَحَدِّي فِكْرَةٍ (to challenge an idea) when discussing a text.
- Work with a partner to compare judgments about a text’s purpose and justify their conclusions with reference to specific segments.
