Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.3.2.1.5 - Identify the common text structures of an expository text as an organisation principle to facilitate understanding.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify the four common text structures of expository texts: cause and effect, problem and solution, compare and contrast, and time order.
  2. Match signal words and phrases (such as بسبب، لذلك، المشكلة، الحل، مثل، أولاً، ثم، أخيراً) to their corresponding text structure in Arabic.
  3. Reorganise a scrambled passage about environmental pollution into a logical text structure and explain the principle used.
  4. Read an Arabic expository text on environmental pollution and state which organisational structure the writer used, giving evidence from the text.
