Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.2.1.1.2 - Show communicative ability in introducing others.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Use the correct Arabic phrase “هذا” (this is, for a male) and “هذه” (this is, for a female) to introduce a family member or classmate to someone else.
- Produce a three-sentence introduction of a classmate that includes the person’s name, his or her relationship to the speaker (friend, brother, sister), and one additional detail such as age, class, or town of origin.
- Respond appropriately to an introduction by greeting the person being introduced using “أهلاً وسهلاً” (welcome) or “تشرفنا” (we are honoured).
- Substitute names and key details in a model introduction sentence to create at least two original introductions of different people (one male, one female).
- Identify correct usage of “هذا” versus “هذه” by matching each demonstrative pronoun with the correct gender of the person being introduced.
