Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.1.1.2.2 - Identify the intonation and style of texts read in class such as prose or poetry.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Distinguish between the intonation patterns of Arabic prose and poetry when listening to texts read aloud.
- Identify the rhythmic features (repetition, rhyme, and beat) that signal a text is poetry rather than prose.
- Describe how the reader’s voice rises, falls, pauses, and stresses words differently in prose compared to poetry.
- Recognise the sun letters (الحروف الشمسية) and moon letters (الحروف القمرية) in the “L” sound (ل) when hearing texts read aloud, building on the previous week’s work.
- Explain in simple terms why a listener can tell a poem from a story just by hearing it, using evidence from the texts heard.
