Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.1.1.2.1 - Identify the phonemic changes of (ل) before any given consonant. (الحروف الشمسية والقمرية)

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Distinguish between sun letters (الحروف الشمسية) and moon letters (الحروف القمرية) and state the number of letters in each group.
  2. Pronounce the definite article (ال) correctly before sun letters (assimilated, silent) and moon letters (audible) in given words.
  3. Classify a given list of Arabic words into those beginning with sun letters and those beginning with moon letters.
  4. Listen to and correctly identify whether the (ل) sound is audible or silent in words read aloud by the teacher.
  5. Apply doubling (الشدة) on the first letter of the word when (ال) precedes a sun letter, both in speech and in writing.
