Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.1.1.1.2
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the extra letters added to the trilateral root ف ع ل in the semi-complex verb forms (تَفَعَّلَ and اِنْفَعَلَ) when they hear them read aloud.
- Distinguish by ear between the sound patterns of تَفَعَّلَ and اِنْفَعَلَ forms, including the doubled middle letter and the glottal stop (hamzah) sound.
- Recognise the phonemic changes that occur in the root ف ع ل when it is transformed into semi-complex patterns, such as the doubling of the ع and the addition of ت or ا.
- Match spoken examples of semi-complex verbs to their written forms correctly.
- Respond to teacher-read words by identifying the pattern used, demonstrating understanding of the generalised concept of verb form sound patterns.
