Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.4.2.1.2 - Explain the impact of electricity generation on the environment.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Describe at least three negative environmental effects of thermal electricity generation (burning fossil fuels) and two negative effects of nuclear electricity generation.
  2. Compare and contrast the environmental impacts of thermal and nuclear power plants using specific examples.
  3. Propose at least three practical strategies to reduce the environmental harm caused by electricity generation.
  4. Participate in a structured debate, presenting arguments with appropriate language and detail for the audience.
  5. Create a poster or leaflet that communicates the effects of electricity generation and solutions to reduce them.
