Learning Objectives
Indicator: B7.5.2.1.2 - Discuss the effects of substance abuse.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least four distinct effects of substance abuse from pictures, videos, or case descriptions.
- Explain how substance abuse leads to abnormal behaviour, ill-health, economic problems, and burden or ridicule to the family.
- Distinguish between the physical, psychological, social, and economic effects of substance abuse on an individual and their family.
- Evaluate the quality of information about substance abuse by separating facts from common myths or exaggeration.
- Demonstrate a personal resolve to stay away from substances by writing a short commitment statement based on the effects discussed.
