Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.5.2.1.2 - Discuss the effects of substance abuse.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify at least four distinct effects of substance abuse from pictures, videos, or case descriptions.
Explain how substance abuse leads to abnormal behaviour, ill-health, economic problems, and burden or ridicule to the family.
Distinguish between the physical, psychological, social, and economic effects of substance abuse on an individual and their family.
Evaluate the quality of information about substance abuse by separating facts from common myths or exaggeration.
Demonstrate a personal resolve to stay away from substances by writing a short commitment statement based on the effects discussed.
