Indicator: B7.5.1.1.1

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Define the terms “manners” and “decency” in their own words, giving at least one example of each.
Identify and list at least five specific behaviours in their school or community that are considered good manners.
Explain the difference between good manners and decent behaviour, using concrete examples from daily life.
Demonstrate an understanding of how manners and decency apply in different settings such as home, school, church or mosque, and the community.
Classify given behaviours as examples of either good manners or decency, and justify their classification.

1. Explain the meaning of the concepts "manners" and "decency."
• Manners - behaviour desirable in society. E.g. courtesy, comportment, mode of dressing, greetings, etc.
• Decency - acceptable behaviour in a given society. E.g. respect, obedience, tolerance, humility, etc.
