  • Differentiate between religious songs and non-religious songs, giving at least two clear differences.
  • State at least three characteristics of religious songs.
  • Listen to a variety of songs and correctly classify them as religious or non-religious, with reasons.
  • Compose a short original religious song in a group and explain the key message it conveys.

1. Explain the differences between religious songs and non-religious songs.
Religious songs - are music that express the belief of worshippers and their dependence on God or the Supreme being while non-religious songs deal with social, political and economic matters.
2. State the characteristic of religious songs. Learners listen to a variety of songs and identify if they are religious songs or not.

• Draw worshippers to God
• Give hope to the hopeless, etc.
3. In groups, learners compose their own religious songs, sing in class and discuss the key message the songs convey.
