Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.3.1.6.2 - Demonstrate use and command of reported speech

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Compose sentences in direct speech and accurately change them to reported speech.
  2. Report what people say in formal situations, such as during a school assembly or a staff meeting.
  3. Report what people say in informal situations, such as conversations with friends or family members at home.
  4. Identify and correctly apply the changes in tense, pronouns and time expressions when shifting from direct to reported speech.
  5. Compose a short news report that uses reported speech to relay what witnesses or officials said.
