Learning Objectives
Indicator: B7.3.1.6.1 - Use passive sentences for a range of functions
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the subject, verb and object in active sentences and state which part becomes the subject in the passive form.
- Reconstruct given active sentences into passive sentences, keeping the tense correct (e.g. “The class won the game” to “The game was won by the class”).
- Use passive sentences to describe a process, such as how banku or gari is prepared.
- Use passive sentences to report past actions where the doer is unknown, known, or unimportant.
- Compose a short formal report (for example, a school or community event report) using at least three passive sentences appropriately.
